You can now ask questions about your engineering data from the AI tools you already use: "Will the Billing v2 milestone hold its date?", "Why did cycle time go up in September?", "What did the mobile project cost last quarter?". TheMetrics works as an MCP server, the standard way AI tools connect to other products.

Same numbers as the app

The AI tool reads the same figures you see in TheMetrics, computed the same way, through the same View. Each answer comes with the metric's definition: what it counts, its unit, and which direction is good. That way the tool can explain a number, not just quote it.

Your access applies unchanged:

  • You see only the teams and people you can see in the app.
  • If you don't have financial access, cost and salary figures are empty. They are not shown as zero.

How to connect

1. Open Profile → AI tools (MCP) to find your server address and setup steps for your tool. 2. Add TheMetrics in your AI tool. In Claude Code that is one command; Cursor, VS Code and Codex take a short config entry; in Claude it is Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector. 3. The first time you connect, TheMetrics opens in your browser. Check which tool is asking, then approve.

By default a connected tool can only read. To let it make changes on your behalf, tick Make changes on your behalf when you approve. This covers editing Views, milestone risks, planning scope, and the settings your role allows. AI tools such as Claude Code and Cursor ask you before they run a change.

Staying in control

  • Profile → AI tools (MCP) lists every tool you have connected. Disconnect signs a tool out within a minute.
  • Admins can see every connected tool in the company under Administration → Connected apps, and revoke any of them, or all at once.
  • Sign-in details, billing and account deletion are never reachable through a connected tool.
